About Keyboard Test
We built this tool because testing a keyboard shouldn't require installing software.
What This Tool Does
Keyboard Test Online is a free, browser-based tool that lets you check whether every key on your keyboard is working correctly. Press any key and you'll see it light up on the virtual keyboard layout on your screen — no download, no account, no fuss.
Why We Made It
Keyboard problems are surprisingly common. Keys get stuck, stop registering, or double-register after heavy use, liquid spills, or just general wear. Before you spend money on a new keyboard or call tech support, it makes sense to figure out whether the problem is the hardware or the software. Our keyboard tester helps you do exactly that.
How to Use It
Just open the page and start pressing keys. Each key you press will turn cyan while held down, and white once released — meaning it registered successfully. Any key that stays dark after pressing it likely has an issue. You can test all keys including function keys (F1–F12), the numpad, arrow keys, modifier keys like Shift, Ctrl, and Alt, and even mouse buttons.
Who It's For
Gamers checking that every key in their WASD cluster registers cleanly. Office workers who suspect a key has stopped working. Laptop owners after a spill. Anyone who just bought a used keyboard and wants to make sure everything works before committing to it. Tech support staff who need a quick diagnostic tool.
Our Commitment
This site is completely free. We don't collect your keystrokes, we don't track which keys you press, and we don't store any personal data. The tool runs entirely in your browser — your keypresses never leave your device.
